The Hebrew word for repairs – ‘chazaq’ – is used 35 times in Chapter 3. It means
strengthening, encouraging, or making something strong.
Jesus was a builder. His profession was a carpenter (Mark 6:3). God is building His people into a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5), into a holy temple (Ephesians 2:21). Ephesians 4:12 says that the church’s purpose is to equip Christians for ministry and edify the body of Christ. The word equip is to mend or repair, and to edify is literally to erect a building.
There is an ongoing work of repair and building in our hearts and in our church.
What is the repair work that needs to be done in your life? How can you participate in the building of God’s work?
